Day 1
Marrakech to Zagora via Ouarzazate
Marrakech to Zagora via Ouarzazate
Depart Marrakech in the morning and drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for a visit and lunch. Drive on through Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves and kasbahs, arriving in Zagora in the afternoon. Overnight in a hotel or riad.
Day 2
Zagora to Erg Chegaga via M'Hamid El Ghizlane
Zagora to Erg Chegaga via M'Hamid El Ghizlane
After breakfast, drive south through the Draa Valley to M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the gateway to the Sahara. From M'Hamid, continue by 4x4 across the sands to Erg Chegaga, one of the largest and most remote dune fields in Morocco. Camel ride and sunset over the dunes, then dinner and a night at a desert camp under the stars.
Day 3
Erg Chegaga to Marrakech via Taznakht
Erg Chegaga to Marrakech via Taznakht
Wake early for sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, leave Erg Chegaga by 4x4 towards Foum Zguid, then drive through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and Taznakht, famous for its traditional Berber carpets, reaching Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening.
